ABR Portillo Riera Arquitectes is an architectural and urbanism studio based in a refurbished ceramic’s former factory Espai Baronda, in Esplugues de Llobregat. Co-founded in 2011 by Rosario Portillo and Ignasi Riera, ABR has developed many projects around the world, in countries like Algeria, Swiss, Spain, Equatorial Guinea, Peru, Brazil and China.
ABR’s main asset is the understanding the current market’s overarching question, while providing a custom services to the local needs; all that through the use of the multi-cultural experiences gathered by its stuff and by their strong commitment to offer a high quality service.
Among other things, ABR has executed some and significant projects, like the transformation of a winery in a Hotel-Spa in Martigny (Swiss), the renewal and enlargement of the Hotel Touat in Adrar (Algeria), new housing buildings in Rio de Janeiro and Barcelona, the development of el Camí de la Muntanya in la Vall de Sant Just Desvern, and the Urban Landscape Masterplan of the Espai Barça.
Currently, ABR is working in several projects including residential blocks and public housing in Barcelona, a sports centre in Equatorial Guinea and development and planning projects in Barcelona and Lima.

Rosario Portillo
Rosario Portillo graduated in architecture in 1990 from the Universitat
Politècnica de Catalunya (ETSAB-UPC). Member of the COAC, continuously since 1991, gain experience in the field of edification, management, urbanism and planning.
In the years from 1985 and 1994 she worked in the architect Fidel Sánchez García del Castillo’s studio developing projects of edification, facilities and interior design.
From 1994 until 2004 she worked in the architect Miquel Álvarez Trincado’s studio as a leader in terms of planning, management, filings and property development.
Subsequently, from 2005 until 2009, she worked for the TAU ICESA GROUP as a project management, proceeding and consolidating the line previously initiated: planning, urbanistic management and dossier handling, expanded with the contest preparation for the administration, specialization administrative formalities management and the involvement in Singular Projects.
Since 2010 she co-leads, alongside Ignasi Riera, the architecture studio ABR in Barcelona, a Architecture Urbanism and Planning business.
